Commission-free XRP trading is back on Robinhood. Here's everything you need to know about buying, selling, and withdrawing XRP.
Buy XRP on Robinhood →Last updated: February 2026
After delisting XRP in January 2021 due to the SEC lawsuit, Robinhood relisted XRP in April 2024 following the favorable court ruling for Ripple. US investors can now trade XRP commission-free again.
Get the Robinhood app from the App Store or Google Play. Robinhood is mobile-first, though a web version exists.
Sign up with your email, phone number, and SSN. Complete identity verification by uploading a photo ID. Most verifications complete within minutes.
Connect your bank account for ACH transfers. Robinhood offers instant deposits up to $1,000 for Gold members while your transfer settles (usually 3-5 business days).
Use the search bar and type "XRP" or "Ripple". Tap on XRP to open the trading screen with live price charts and market data.
Tap "Buy", enter your dollar amount (minimum $1), review the order details including the spread, and swipe to confirm. Your XRP appears instantly in your portfolio.
Unlike before, Robinhood now supports crypto withdrawals through Robinhood Wallet. You can send your XRP to any external wallet address, giving you true ownership of your crypto.
Note: Withdrawals require identity verification and may take 24-72 hours to process for first-time transfers.
Robinhood advertises "commission-free" trading, but here's what you're actually paying:
| Fee Type | Robinhood | Kraken (Pro) |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | $0 | 0.16-0.26% |
| Spread Markup | 0.5-1.5% | ~0.1% |
| Deposit (Bank) | Free | Free |
| Withdrawal (XRP) | Network fee only | 0.02 XRP |
| Effective Cost | ~0.5-1.5% | ~0.3% |
What is spread? The spread is the difference between the buy and sell price. Robinhood builds their profit into this spread, making the price slightly higher when you buy and lower when you sell compared to market rates.
Verdict: Robinhood is excellent for casual investors who want simplicity and already use it for stocks. For serious XRP investors, Kraken offers lower total costs and more features. For beginners who want full crypto features, Coinbase is more comprehensive.
